PROJECTS & PERFORMANCE

RESILIENCY DOME

Picture
RESILIENCY DOME: An interactive experience of sound, shape, writing and movement.

This interactive installation took place inside of a Geodesic Dome during Sou'Wester ARTS WEEK in Seaview WA March 2022. Participants (as a group) interacted with 11 "Chatterboxes" hiding interactive prompts inside.

4 Categories: Hands/Voice/Body/Combo
52 Prompts
30-60 second group activity

These low s
takes group-improv exercises were designed to spark creativity and brain flexibility in the spirit of PLAY in the form of group movement, sound, writing &/or drawing.

This piece has become the catalyst for a deck of cards (coming soon!) and
Uncomfortable Club monthly Happy Hour at Turn Turn Turn, a local venue in Portland, OR.  Free & All Ages

WE’RE HUMAN.   WE’RE UNCOMFORTABLE.  LET’S GET BETTER AT IT TOGETHER.

When we embrace our collective discomfort as part of our human experience, we become more resilient and expand our capacity to evolve.

Inspired by the likes of Bruce McLean, Denis Oppenheim, Oblique Strategies, Brian Eno, Peter Schmidt, Fluxus Yoko Ono - Grapefruit, Vito Acconci, Karen Finley, Research Magazine, Joey Skaggs, Children's games, Tarot Harold Format, Absurdism, Somatic Therapy, Charades, Haiku, Exquisite Corpse, Blind contour drawing, Victorian parlour games...

THE GIFT
5 site specific installations along the coast of Long Beach and Seaview WA
culminating in a live performance written and choreographed by Gino M Kline and Frankie Darling during
Sou'Wester Arts Week, Seaview WA March 2021
(photos by Frankie Darling)

A conceptual scavenger hunt exploring the duality of self,
the liminal space between internal/external, thought/action.
Together, let us cumulatively gather the pieces of our collective landscape.
When we choose to be both the artist and audience in our day to day lives, we give ourselves (and others) the ultimate gift of curiosity and intention.

VIRTUAL BINGO ART PARTY

VIRTUAL BINGO ART PARTY
This was a project that started with a stack of bingo cards that I found at an estate sale. I gave myself a month long assignment of finishing  a "bingo-card-a-day" collage or ink drawing which was challenging but fun.

Since Covid had shut down all the First Friday Art events at my shop, I decided to host a Virtual Bingo Art Party with the remaining bingo cards as a fundraiser for The Bail Project and Black United Fund of Oregon on IG.
I mailed 20 blank cards out to artists with a self addressed stamped envelopes. Once I received the finished cards, I posted individual photos on IG for the public to bid on.
It was a delightful project that brought some levity during quarantine (and we raised $1K!)

ASK ME ANYTHING

Picture

ASK ME ANYTHING
During Arts Week I asked guests on the premises to submit any question in need of advice anonymously.
I chose my favorite questions and put together a 4x5.5" zine with as much advice as I could
fit in this cheeky little zine.
Inspired by an advice column by Cookie Mueller called "Ask Dr. Mueller" written in the early 80's for the East Village Eye.
She was a punk, a diva, an actress, an iconoclast, a mom, a writer and a poet.
She was not, however, a Doctor.

STATIC PASSENGER

STATIC PASSENGER
A performance piece written, choreographed and performed by Gino M Kline and Nick Bindeman.
Additional performers: Sara Paradis, Kathleen Duffy, and William Rihel
Music by Nick Bindeman
Live interactive video by Matthew Henderson
Performed during the final year of SPACENESS at Sou'Wester Lodge
Seaview WA, March 2019
Photos and video by Indira Perczek/Tender Heart Productions

Using the body, sound and live video, we explore cognitive dissonance and our impulse to normalize ideas that are in opposition to our values and instincts. In doing so we remain in a perpetual state of ignorance and denial while perpetuating a herd mentality.

HEADSPACE
A three part multi-media performance choreographed and performed by Gino M Kline and Shana Palmer Video by Shana Palmer. Music by Nick Bindeman and Warren Lee.
Performed at SPACENESS - A week long artist in residency in Seaview WA with performances and installations open to the public. March, 2017

A performance inspired by our separate and collective memories, how we are tied to those memories and in turn how they tie us to each other.
We explore memory as an illusion, and the vulnerability of memory through non-linear narratives using video, shadow, voice and body movement.

THOUGHT CAMPAIGN

THOUGT CAMPAIGN
An ongoing flier project with an ambiguous message.
The intention is to facilitate thought and conversation on all sides.

Grand Style Orchestra

Picture
Since 2103, I've had the honor of playing some form of percussion with GSO - AKA the Grand Style Orchestra -
A monthly evening of avant-jazz improvisations led by the inimitable Shorty Grapes. Currently every last Sunday of the month at Turn Turn Turn in Portland OR.

Melodic or cacophonic...? You decide!

Coaching facilitates change.
It transforms the lens through which we look at the world, our relationship to others,
our work, our creative practice and most of all, ourselves.
