My inspiration to coach comes from...

-My love of community and my belief that we all need support and an advocate who can offer insight and share tools for problem solving in both our personal and creative life.

-A personal history of taking risks, failing and persisting despite anxiety, ADHD, poor time management and and what felt like a giant question mark looming over my head at all times.

-Understanding that we are ALL equally flawed yet amazing human beings. The more we embrace the good, the bad and the ugly along with the uncomfortable aspects of our human experience, the more contentment and peace we can have in our lives.
-A passionate dedication to helping creative individuals accomplish their goals and aspirations through coaching.

-My personal experience of getting coached and being in a self coaching program which, has completely transformed my life for the better as a designer, artist and entrepreneur. It has changed the lens through which I look at the world, my relationship to others, my work and myself.

I am an artist, performer, designer, maker and personal coach for creatives.

I have a BA from Alfred University and The Evergreen State College. I studied social science (psychology, sociology, anthropology), as well as art and design, specifically - film, photography, printmaking, performance art, metal/wood/glass sculpture, and fine metal work.

From 1988-1990 I attended the School of Art and Design at Alfred University in NY.
In 1990 I left school after a summer road trip found me madly in love with the desert. I ended up bouncing between Albuquerque NM and New Orleans LA for the next 8 years working as a bartender, glass slinger, fine metals production assistant, seamstress and vintage clothier.

In 1998 I moved to Olympia WA to finish my art degree. From 2000-2003, I was the shop tech for the Fine Metals studio at Evergreen and ran a music/art/film venue and speakeasy under the name Hi-Lo in a former boat-building warehouse downtown.

In 2003 I moved to Portland OR and in 2004, started a successful accessories line called SNAP design.
In 2010, I rebranded with xobruno leather goods, designing and producing this line which brings me to the present and my current coaching practice.

For 5 years I worked with young adults living in either a residential treatment facility or runaway shelter who struggled with addiction and mental heath issues.
I also have experience volunteering weekly with elders in my community.

I have mentored several individuals in entrepreneurship, both with start-up and existing businesses, specifically helping with time management, goal setting and accountability practices.

I have a CPD in Life Coaching and Health & Wellness Coaching, completed a year long intensive Self Coaching program through The Life Coach School and am currently pursuing my PCC (Profession Coach Certification) through Coach Training EDU in Portland OR - credentialed by the ICF (International Coaching Federation) which requires 125+ hours of training and 500+ hours of one-on-one coaching experience.

to name a few...

I am incredibly grateful for all of my personal coaches, mentors and teachers who have directly or indirectly helped me to become a successful entrepreneur, and realize some of my wildest dreams... they continue to guide me on my current journey. Whether in person, through a podcast, book or random conversation with a wise stranger, these mentors helped me see beyond the anxiety cloud and keep moving forward.

Therapy was an invaluable tool in helping me reconcile my past. Coaching empowers me to move forward, be focused on the present and write whatever story I choose about my future.

There's an overwhelming amount of self-help material out there... Some (but not all) of it made sense intellectually and spiritually, but I found myself questioning how exactly to apply this insight to my life without feeling overwhelmed or incapable of following through. After experimenting with various practices, I found a coaching model that truly works with my very distractible brain. It is practical and can literally be applied to ANY problem with perseverance, practice and patience. It has completely changed the way I show up in the world, and show up for myself.

Through coaching and my own thought management I've been able to accomplish some incredible goals that I've set for myself. In addition, my relationships have absolutely improved, I take better care of myself, and my anxiety is more manageable than it's ever been.

I want to be an example of what is possible and help others do the same.

Get in touch!
I'd love to work with you.

Truly,
Michelle Kline / Uncomfortable Club
